Background

Elaine Marshall has been involved in social housing for over 25 years as a representative for social landlords and before that tenants.

Elaine was formerly Head of Legal at East Thames Group, a Registered Provider which focused on the provision of social housing and care and support throughout East London and Essex. Her previous in house role was at Family Mosaic Housing Association.

Before that she was head of the housing team in a law firm which acted predominantly for a wide variety of social landlords. She had previously worked in the field of social housing acting for tenants whilst working for a South London Law Centre after training and practising in a variety of areas of litigation in private practice, including housing, crime, family, childcare, immigration.

Elaine originally studied modern history for her first degree (at Oxford University) before doing the Common Professional Examination in Law (CPE) and Law Society Finals (at City of London Polytechnic) to qualify as a Solicitor. She also has a photography degree (University of Westminster).

She has been a member of the Social Housing Law Association (SHLA) since shortly after its inception, a member of the SHLA committee for 7 years and vice chair for several years.
